Trichomonal vaginitis mainly presents with symptoms such as vulvar itching, increased vaginal discharge, and discomfort during urination. Trichomonas vaginitis is a common gynecological inflammation caused by Trichomonas vaginalis infection. It is usually related to sexual contact transmission, poor hygiene habits and other factors.
1. Vulvar itching
Vulvar itching is a typical symptom of trichomonas vaginitis, which is characterized by persistent or paroxysmal itching of the vulva, which may be accompanied by a burning sensation. The degree of itching varies from person to person and may worsen at night, and repeated scratching may cause local skin damage. Patients need to avoid scratching and can use metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets, tinidazole suppositories, clotrimazole vaginal tablets and other drugs for treatment as directed by the doctor.
2. Abnormal secretions
Increased vaginal discharge that is yellow-green in foamy texture, thin in texture, and fishy-smelling is a characteristic manifestation of trichomonal vaginitis. The secretions may irritate the vulvar skin, causing redness and swelling, and some patients may see obvious stains on their underwear. It is recommended to wash the vulva with warm water every day, avoid using irritating lotions, and follow the doctor's instructions to take metronidazole tablets, tinidazole tablets or topical clindamycin phosphate vaginal gel.
3. Discomfort in urination
Some patients may experience urethral irritation symptoms such as pain on urination, frequent urination or urgency, which is related to the spread of trichomonas infection to the urethra orifice. In severe cases, urethral congestion may occur, but this is usually not accompanied by fever. During treatment, you should increase the amount of water you drink and avoid holding in your urine. You can use compound zedoary oil suppository or miconazole nitrate vaginal soft capsules and other drugs together.
4. Pain during sexual intercourse
When inflammation causes congestion and edema of the vaginal mucosa, it may cause pain or bleeding during sexual intercourse, affecting quality of life. Sexual intercourse should be prohibited during the acute phase, and partners should receive simultaneous treatment to prevent cross-infection. Medications such as Sophora flavescens gel or nystatin vaginal suppository can be used to relieve symptoms. If necessary, oral ornidazole dispersible tablets can be combined with it.
5. Asymptomatic infection
About half of women infected with Trichomonas vaginalis have no obvious symptoms but are still contagious. Congestion of the vaginal wall and typical secretions can be seen through gynecological examination, and the diagnosis can be confirmed by microscopic examination. Asymptomatic people also need standardized treatment to prevent disease progression or infecting others. Commonly used drugs include nifuratel, nystatin vaginal ointment or dizotide vaginal effervescent tablets.
Patients with trichomonas vaginitis need to keep their vulva clean and dry, avoid wearing tight-fitting chemical fiber underwear, and are prohibited from bathing and swimming during treatment. Reduce the intake of spicy foods and increase yogurt and other probiotic-containing foods. All medication must be completed under the guidance of a doctor, and the partner should receive examination and treatment at the same time. Using condoms before recovery can reduce the probability of repeated infections. If symptoms persist or recur, the treatment plan needs to be reviewed and adjusted in a timely manner.
