Ovarian lesions are not necessarily cancer. Ovarian lesions include physiological cysts, benign tumors, malignant tumors and other types, and their nature needs to be determined through pathological examination.
Physiological ovarian cysts, such as corpus luteum cysts, follicular cysts, etc., are related to the menstrual cycle, and most of them can disappear on their own. Benign tumors, such as mature teratomas, serous cystadenoma, etc., grow slowly and have clear borders, and have a good prognosis after surgical resection. Although chocolate cysts caused by endometriosis are benign, they may cause menstrual cramps or infertility.
Malignant tumors, namely ovarian cancer, are common types such as epithelial cancer and germ cell tumors, and have aggressive growth characteristics. There may be no symptoms in the early stage, but symptoms such as abdominal distension, weight loss, and irregular vaginal bleeding may occur in the late stage. High vigilance is required when tumor markers such as CA125 are elevated or solid masses with ascites are found on imaging.
It is recommended to seek medical advice as soon as possible when pelvic discomfort or abnormal bleeding occurs, and conduct preliminary evaluation through imaging examinations such as ultrasound and MRI combined with tumor markers. The diagnosis depends on histopathological examination, and laparoscopy or laparotomy can both confirm the diagnosis and achieve the purpose of treatment. Pay attention to regular gynecological examinations and avoid long-term use of estrogen drugs.
