Why is the leucorrhea pink?

Pink leucorrhea may be caused by ovulatory bleeding, cervicitis, endometrial polyps, threatened abortion, cervical cancer, etc. It can be intervened through gynecological examination, drug treatment, surgical resection, etc.

1. Bleeding during ovulation

A brief drop in estrogen levels during ovulation may cause a small amount of the lining of the uterus to shed, resulting in pink discharge mixed with leucorrhea. It usually lasts for 2-3 days and can be observed if there is no special discomfort. If accompanied by abdominal pain, apply heat to the lower abdomen and avoid strenuous exercise.

2. Cervicitis

Inflammation of the cervix caused by gonococcal or chlamydial infection may lead to contact bleeding that appears as pink vaginal discharge. Often accompanied by vulvar itching and sexual intercourse pain. 3. Endometrial polyps

The vegetation formed by local hyperplasia of the endometrium can easily cause bleeding, resulting in leucorrhea mixed with blood. It may be accompanied by increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstrual periods. After diagnosis, it can be treated by hysteroscopic polypectomy, and regular follow-up examinations are required after surgery.

4. Threatened abortion

When embryo implantation is unstable in early pregnancy, pink discharge may be a sign of miscarriage. It is often accompanied by a feeling of bloating in the lower abdomen, and it is necessary to rest in bed immediately and check the progesterone level. The doctor may recommend taking progesterone capsules or dydrogesterone tablets for miscarriage treatment.

5. Cervical Cancer

Early malignant transformation of cervical epithelial cells can manifest as irregular vaginal bleeding, often mixed with leucorrhea. Persistent high-risk HPV infection is the main cause, accompanied by foul-smelling secretions. Diagnosis needs to be confirmed by cervical biopsy, and conization or radical hysterectomy is chosen depending on the stage.

It is recommended to choose cotton breathable underwear and change it daily, and avoid using alkaline lotions to rinse the vagina. When pink leucorrhea lasts for more than 3 days or is accompanied by fever or severe abdominal pain, you should promptly go to the gynecology department for special screening such as colposcopy and HPV testing.
