In fact, there are currently no categories that require absolute fasting in clinical practice. There are only two types that really need to be avoided first - foods that can cause you to be allergic, and foods that are too spicy, too hot, or too irritating.
I was particularly impressed by the boy in the second grade who came for review last week. He was so greedy on the third day after getting chickenpox that he secretly showed off half a box of braised spicy duck heads bought by his father. The herpes in his throat was almost healed, but he was so painful that he could not speak that night.
Having said this, many people must be wondering, are the "fat foods" such as eggs, beef, mutton, and seafood that the older generation often talks about really not to be avoided? In fact, there are indeed different academic views on this. Traditional Chinese medicine recommends that the intake of such foods should be minimized during the rash period to avoid aggravating the inflammatory reaction of the skin and prolonging the rash. However, modern clinical and nutritional science has not found relevant clear evidence. Instead, patients are encouraged to eat appropriate amounts of high-quality protein if they have not had allergic reactions to these foods before, which can help repair mucous membranes and skin.
Last month, I met a very cautious mother. During the two weeks when her child had chickenpox, she only had white porridge and stir-fried vegetables. She didn’t dare to touch any meat or fish. In the end, the child’s chickenpox scab was almost a week slower than that of children of the same age, and she lost more than two kilograms. During the follow-up visit, she told me that her child complained about being hungry every day, which was completely unnecessary.
The reason why we should avoid overly spicy and hot food is that, in addition to aggravating skin itching, many people will develop invisible herpes on the mucosa of their mouth, throat and even esophagus when they have chickenpox. Overly hot soups, overly hard crispy nuts, etc. can easily scratch the mucous membrane and cause ulcers. It will hurt even to drink water, let alone eat. There is really no need to suffer this extra sin.
Of course, there is no need to be too dogmatic. Everyone’s physique is different. If you eat something that you are not usually allergic to, and your herpes itchiness worsens that day, just wait for three to five days and wait until the rash is almost gone before eating again. There is no need to copy other people’s experiences. If you really want to eat heavy food such as hot pot and barbecue, it is best to wait until all the scabs are completely gone before eating. Otherwise, the skin barrier has not fully grown during that time. Eating too much high-sugar, oily and spicy food can easily leave pigmentation. A small light brown mark will be left on the originally smooth face. Girls and boys who love beauty will regret it for a long time.
