Post-circumcision edema is a common postoperative phenomenon, and correct treatment can help recovery.
1. Keep it clean
After surgery, the wound area needs to be washed gently with warm water every day and avoid using harsh lotions. After washing, gently pat dry to prevent friction from aggravating edema. Keeping the area dry can help reduce bacterial growth and reduce the risk of infection.
2.Ice treatment
Ice packs can be used intermittently for 24 hours after surgery, for 15-20 minutes each time. Be sure to wrap the ice pack in a clean towel to avoid direct contact with the skin. Applying ice can constrict blood vessels and reduce swelling caused by tissue leakage.
3. Appropriate pressure
Use sterile gauze for moderate pressure bandaging as directed by the doctor, and the pressure should be evenly distributed. If it is too tight, it will affect blood circulation, and if it is too loose, it will not be able to reduce swelling. Pay attention to the color change of the glans penis when bandaging.
4. Posture management
During the recovery period, it is advisable to lie down and raise the scrotum 30 degrees. Avoid standing or walking for long periods of time to reduce the impact of gravity on the wound. Use a soft pad to prop up the perineum while sleeping at night.
5. Medication assistance
Your doctor may prescribe diosmin tablets to improve lymphatic drainage, or ibuprofen extended-release capsules to reduce inflammation. If signs of infection require the use of antibiotics such as cefaclor dispersible tablets, the medication must be strictly followed as prescribed by the doctor.
You should wear loose cotton underwear after surgery to avoid rubbing the wound. In terms of diet, consume more high-quality protein and vitamin C to promote healing, such as fish, eggs and kiwi fruit. Strenuous exercise and sex are prohibited until complete recovery. Generally, edema will gradually subside in 2-3 weeks. If persistent redness, swelling, heat, pain or abnormal secretions occur, timely follow-up is required. Maintaining a good attitude will help your body recover. Do not remove the dressing or adjust the tightness of the dressing on your own.
